The music source of notebook is connected with a CSR64251 Bluetooth decoder via Bluetooth wireless connection, and music player is foobar2000.  And the video is taken by smartphone.

Generally, the sound of toroidal transformer is good, large dynamic, less magnetic leakage, more quiet, and low temperature. R type transformer’s voice is warm, low internal resistance, excellent high frequency extension and also the subtle state is very good.







O-type transformer, combined with the advantages of R-type transformer and toroidal one. A completely non-cutting core made of high-flux silicon steel strip, O type transformer is made of this round-section iron core has a small volume and good electrical performance, and is an ideal transformer. The O-shaped and the ring-shaped transformer are completely different. The ring-shaped transformer is made of steel strips. The O type transfomer is a one-piece iron core. In terms of efficiency and magnetic flux leakage, the O-type has an inherent advantage. As actual listening, its performance is very accurate in high frequency characteristics, transient, and detailed.

Compared with toroidal transformer, O type transformer has the following advantages:
a. The average length of the coil is reduced by 11.4%-30%;
b. The coil has no folding angle, which makes the magnetic field distribution more uniform. For Structural features, the core has no fracture, the section is approximately circular and like as an oblate structure, also its height is short and diameter is larger with more uniform structure, so that its leakage magnetic is smaller.

Compared with the R-type transformer, its coil is not limited by the skeleton, and is tightly attached to the core, which is better coupled and more efficient. O-type transformer’s sound quality at sweet and warm aspect has a significant difference in actual comparison with the other transformers.

What is B, P, and G for tube amplifier output transformer?

We had been asked the questions that what B, P, and G for tube amplifier output transformer is. Maybe it is a simple question for tube amplifier audiophiles, there a brief for it below.

The primary of tube amplifier output transformer generally has two, three and five connection terminals.
The circuits of single tube type class A amplifier Among them include:
  1. The primary is 2 connection terminals, P is connected to the screen, B is connected to B+ (that is, DC high voltage power supply)
  2. The primary is 3 connection terminals, P is connected to the screen, G is a Ultra-linear tap (connected to the second gate of the power amplified tube such as 6P6P, 6P1, 6P14, etc.), B is connected to B+ (that is, DC high-voltage power supply)

Push-pull circuit:
  1. The primary is 3 connection terminals, the transformer primary has two P terminals, and one B terminal, two P terminals respectively is connected to the screen of tube No and No2, B then connected to B + (that is, high-voltage DC power supply).Here, tube No.1 and No. 2 are two push-pull arms, same as below.
  2. The primary five connection terminals, the five primary connection terminals of output transformer are: P1, G1, B, G2, and P2. Among them, P1 is connected to the screen of tube No. 1, G1 is connected to the ultra-linear tap of tube No. 1, P2 is connected to the screen of tube No. 2, G2 is connected to the ultra-linear tap of tube No. 2, B is connected to B+ (that is, DC high voltage power supply). As an audiophile for tube amplifier, we might know that there are generally three kinds of connection methods for beam tetrode tube of tube amplifier, standard, ultra- linear, and triode connection. Its output power and distortion decrease in turn.
Generally, when we use the power tube, the grid voltage is fixed, which is called standard connection. When the grid is directly connected to the screen, i.e. the beam tetrode is connected to a three-stage tube that called triode connection. The ultra-linear connection is between standard and triode connections. which is to connect the curtain grid to the tap of a certain number of turns of output transformer, consider to increase the output power of the standard connection and the low distortion of the triode one.
Ultra-linearity is a kind of negative feedback, whose principle is to obtain the feedback voltage through the output transformer tap to add to the output tube curtain grid. As the grid voltage changes, the output curve cluster of the tube will change, so the grid voltage can be negative feedback by output voltage changes.
